When Will Boothill Release in Honkai Star Rail?

Honkai Star Rail Boothill is scheduled to be released in the second half of the Version 2.2 update. Based on the current update schedule, we can expect his banner to be available on May 29th, 2024.

Boothill Honakai Star Rail Abilities Overview

Basic Attack – Skullcrush Spurs

A standard Physical DMG attack to a single-target enemy.

Skill – Sizzlin’ Tango

Boothill HSR and one selected target enemy enter the ‘Standoff’ state. The selected enemy is ‘Taunted’ to Boothill HSR and Boothill’s Basic Attack is Enhanced and replaced with ‘Fanning the Hammer’.Honakai Star Rail Boothill and the targeted enemy both have increased DMG received.

Once the enemy is weakness broken or defeated, Boothill HSR receives 1 stack of Pocket Trickshot and leaves the ‘Standoff’ state. Once activated, the skill cannot be used again and will last for 2 turns, reducing by 1 at the start of Boothill’s turn.

Using the skill does not regen Energy, and it does not end the turn.

Enhanced Basic Attack – Fanning the Hammer

Increased Physical DMG dealt to a single-target enemy. Does not regen skill points and can only target the enemy in the Standoff state.

Ultimate – Dust Devil’s Sunset Rodeo

Deals massive Physical DMG to a single-target enemy and delays their turn. Additionally, applies Physical Weakness to the targeted enemy.

Talent – Five Peas in a Pod

For every stack of ‘Pocket Trickshot’, increases the Enhanced Basic Attack’s (Fanning the Hammer) ‘Toughness-Reducing’ DMG by 50%. Pocket Trickshot can stack to a max 3 stack.

If the target is Weakness Broken with the Enhanced Basic Attack, based on the number of Pocket Trickshot stacks, deals Break DMG equal to a percentage of Honakai Star Rail Boothill’s Physical Break DMG.

A Summary

What all this means is Boothill HSR will be breaking enemies often and breaking them during the ‘Standoff’ state with his skill will deal even more damage. His Ult implants Physical weakness so it’s a great way to be breaking enemies regardless of their Weakness types consistently.

Possible Builds for Boothill HSR

The name of the game here is Break Effect and you’ll want to stack as much as possible to take advantage of HSR Boothill’s damage potential. His abilities are fully geared to taking an enemy on 1v1 (most often the Boss) and breaking them as often as possible.

In that case, his best set should be Thief of Shooting Meteor which increases Break Effect by 16% for a 2-set piece and increases Break Effect by an additional 16%, and regens 3 Energy when the wearer inflicts weakness break on an enemy.

Alternatively, you could try a 2 + 2 of Thief of Shooting Meteor and Watchmaker, but to get the full set benefits, a 4-piece Thief of Shooting Meteor set is most ideal.

For Planar Ornaments, Talia: Kingdom of Banditry that increases Break Effect is your best option.

Stats-wise on the Relics, we’d recommend a Crit DMG/Rate for the Chest piece, Speed on the Boots, ATK% or Physical Damage Orb, and a Break Effect Rope.
